From 1 July 2025, the Victorian Government raised the landfill waste levy, a charge that applies to all waste sent to landfill across the state. FOOTT will continue to try to identify more efficient ways of servicing your business to offset some of these costs. However due to the significant increase in these costs we’ve had to pass much of it on which you will see on your next waste invoice.
“We want to make sure our customers understand why their costs may increase, and more importantly try to support them with changes to their services to minimise the impact of such costs where possible,” FOOTT Chief Executive Officer Andrew Yeoland said.
The levy is designed to reduce landfill waste, improve recycling, funds recycling initiatives and supports Victoria’s circular economy.
Cardboard, food organics, secure waste, steel, and other recyclables don’t attract landfill rates (unless contaminated). If your business is still sending these to landfill, you’re likely paying more than you need to.
FOOTT offers a free, on-site waste audit. We’ll visit your site, look at what you’re currently doing, and help identify practical changes, so you can divert more waste into lower-cost recycling streams.
“It’s easy to put off reviewing waste services, but this levy increase makes it the right time to do it.” Andrew said.
Many businesses haven’t revisited their waste setup in years, and that could be costing them more than is necessary.
If you’re not sure exactly what you’re paying for, or whether your service mix is still the right fit, let us help.
