Turning Containers into Community Support

Visitors to FOOTT’s CDS Vic depots in Cobram and Benalla can now turn their recycling into direct support for local community groups, with a new container donation trial making it easier than ever to give back while returning eligible containers.

The Containers for a Cause program, introduced in December last year, allows customers to donate their eligible containers to local community organisations when visiting participating depots. Dedicated FOOTT donation stations allow containers to be donated directly to a nominated Community Partner, with FOOTT staff processing the containers on the customer’s behalf.

FOOTT chief executive officer Andrew Yeoland said the initiative was designed to make community giving simple and accessible for depot customers.

“Containers for a Cause is a new initiative delivered through our FOOTT Cares program, designed to make it easier for people to support local community groups when visiting our CDS Vic depots,” Mr Yeoland said.

Funds from donated containers are transferred directly to the Community Partner via the CDS Vic app, with proceeds paid into the organisation’s bank account and no cash handling involved.

The trial is currently supporting the Cobram Lions Club, which is raising funds for dialysis services, and the Benalla Woodworkers’ Shed appeal to help fund the construction of a new shed.

“If you’re visiting our Benalla or Cobram depots, please consider donating a few eligible containers. Every container counts, and even a small contribution helps the community groups,” Mr Yeoland said.

FOOTT currently operates four CDS Vic depots across Shepparton, Benalla, Yarrawonga and Cobram, and since opening in November 2023 has processed more than 76 million eligible containers, returning over $7.6 million to regional communities.

Containers for a Cause is part of FOOTT’s broader FOOTT Cares program supporting local community groups across the regions in which the business operates.
