FOOTT has showcased its regional capability in Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme (CDS Vic), welcoming Member for Euroa Annabelle Cleeland MP to its Benalla CDS Vic depot.
Since opening in November 2023, FOOTT’s Benalla depot has processed more than 15 million eligible drink containers, supporting 10-cent refunds for individuals, families, schools, clubs and community organisations across the region.
Ms Cleeland spent time working alongside the Benalla CDS Vic team, getting hands-on experience processing returned containers and seeing first-hand what is involved in operating a busy regional container refund depot.

FOOTT’s Benalla CDS Vic depot has processed more than 15 million eligible containers since opening in November 2023.
FOOTT Chief Executive Officer Andrew Yeoland said the milestone reflected the strong support the Container Deposit Scheme had received from communities across regional Victoria.
“The scheme continues to go from strength to strength in regional Victoria and we’re proud of the capability our team has built across depots, logistics and processing,” Mr Yeoland said.
“Our Benalla team has done an amazing job since the depot opened, and processing more than 15 million containers is a great reflection of the support CDS Vic has received from the local community.
“It was great to have Annabelle spend time working alongside our team and also have the opportunity to discuss the broader role FOOTT is playing in CDS Vic.”
FOOTT’s role in CDS Vic across northern Victoria
FOOTT operates four CDS Vic depots across northern Victoria, located in Benalla, Shepparton, Cobram and Yarrawonga.
Beyond its depot operations, FOOTT provides logistics and processing services supporting CDS Vic across the region. This includes collecting returned containers across the network and processing recovered container materials in preparation for recycling.
CDS Vic provides a 10-cent refund for every eligible drink container returned at refund points across Victoria, helping recover valuable materials for recycling while providing opportunities for individuals and community organisations to receive or donate container refunds.
FOOTT’s involvement across depot operations, logistics and processing has enabled the business to build significant regional capability since CDS Vic commenced in November 2023.
